Mourning Hussain in London: Islamic Moral Criticism and the Majilis-e-Ulama Shia Europe

She is studying the reliance by Islamic scholars in London on the state apparatus to discipline tatbir practitioners (striking of the self with swords, chains or other implements to commemorate the Islamic month of Muharram). She argues this is a strategic venue by which Shi’I moral ciriticsm enters Britains secular public sphere.
