Majors and Minor

Undergraduate students can choose from among several specialized major options in the UC Davis Department of Anthropology, which also offers an academic minor. The department is organized into two distinct but related wings: the Evolutionary Wing and the Sociocultural Wing.

A.B in Evolutionary Anthropology

A bachelor of arts degree in anthropology with an evolutionary emphasis is designed for students who are interested in attaining a solid foundation in biological and cultural understanding.

A.B. in Sociocultural Anthropology

A bachelor of arts degree in anthropology with a sociocultural emphasis is designed for students who are interested in understanding cultural complexities.

A.B. General Emphasis

B.S. in Anthropology

A bachelor of science degree in anthropology with an evolutionary emphasis gives students a strong educational background preparatory for further training in the health professions, biological and evolutionary sciences, and forensic investigation.

Anthropology Minor

A minor in anthropology is an ideal complement to virtually any major at UC Davis.
