Erum Abbasi Syed

As the Chief Administrative Officer of the “Green Cluster” in the Division of Social Sciences, Erum A. Syed provides leadership and oversight for the administration of the business affairs of the Departments of Anthropology, Department of Sociology, and Program in Middle East/South Asia Studies and Languages. Working closely with the chairs of the departments and with colleagues in the Dean’s Office, Syed executes policy and strategic direction of the Cluster. Syed organizes, manages, and directs long-range and short-range plans in the areas of finance, academic and staff personnel, instruction, equipment/space administration, policy and procedure development and research. Syed joined the College of Letters and Science at University of California, Davis in May 2013. Before joining UC Davis, Syed served as Assistant Director of the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University. Syed has also served in financial and management positions at Merrill Lynch, the Bureau of Engineering in Los Angeles, and the UCLA School of Law.
